The 2017 meeting of the Society for Historical Archaeology will celebrate its 50th anniversary with the Omni Fort Worth Hotel serving as host venue. The Society for Historical Archaeology is the largest organization in the world that focues on historical archaeology and education for both terrestrial and underwater archaeology. 50 years ago, the organization was founded and held its first conference in January 1967 at Southern Methodist University. As the Society puts it, “Advancing Frontiers—the theme for this year’s conference—acknowledges the pioneering spirit of innovation and advancement in the field of archaeological and historical studies that drives forward our understanding of history.”
This year’s conference will offer attendees numerous opportunities for learning through various workshops, tours, round-table luncheons, as well as several receptions.
