The 2016 Annual Conference on South Carolina Archaeology will be hosted February 20 on the campus of the University of South Carolina. This year’s conference theme is settlement archaeology in honor of the 450th anniversary of Santa Elena and will also feature presentations on current archaeological research in the state. The Archaeological Society of South Carolina’s conference keynote speaker will be Dr. David G. Moore. He is a professor at Warren Wilson College and has done extensive excavations at the 16th century Berry site, a Spanish fort and Native American village in North Carolina.
