The 2014 Main Streets Conference Has a “Track” for Every Interest
With over 60 educational sessions and a dozen mobile workshops, the 2014 National Main Streets Conference offers opportunities for a wide variety of interests. To help guide your session selections, we’ve put together conference “tracks” for a handful of different focuses. Working in a small town? Interested in preservation and public policy? *While almost all of the conference sessions are relevant to small towns, those marked with ST denote case studies or information particularly applicable to towns with populations less than 20,000.

Scholarship Opportunity


Is your Main Street community a Certified Local Government? Have you always wanted to attend the National Main Streets Conference but haven’t had the funding? If so, now is your chance to receive a scholarship for free registration to attend the National Main Streets Conference in Detroit! This scholarship is made possible by the National Park Service, and is open to CLG Staff and Commissioners. To apply, download and complete the application and email to Steve Amraen at samraen@savingplaces.org. 10 lucky winners will go to this year’s conference free of charge.

The brief application is due Thursday, April 24 and recipients will be notified by Monday, April 28 if they are selected for a scholarship.

Free Main Street 101 Sessions


In an effort to keep the National Main Streets Conference accessible to all and continue to grow the understanding of preservation-based downtown development, we’re offering FREE 101 Sessions on Sunday, May 18th.

The Main Street 101 Sessions
cover each area of the Main Street Four Point Approach® (design, economic restructuring, promotions, and organization) in a 90-minute session, providing new or seasoned Main Street staff and volunteers an opportunity to get back to basics.
