Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument traces its roots to the early 1900s. It is a special park in that it has 3 separate units each with its own Spanish Mission. Over the years, the three units were brought together and in 1980 Salinas National Monument was formed. Throughout its history, archeologists, both inside and outside of the park service, have worked to excavate the sites, found artifacts, and advised in the restoration of these missions.
