Dr. George Skarmeas will speak on the topic of preservation and sustainability; case studies, including Lincoln Cottage in DC (to be certified LEED Gold) and the West Virginia Capitol complex.
Who: Dr. George C. Skarmea
A nationally recognized preservation architect and planner, Dr. George C. Skarmeas is the founding principal of RMJM Hillier’s Preservation Architecture Group and its lead architect.
Dr. Skarmeas has over twenty five years of experience in historic preservation. He studied under James Marston Fitch – the noted preservation educator, practitioner and writer – and has worked on national landmarks and world heritage sites, including the United States Supreme Court, the Virginia Capitol, the New Jersey State House Annex and the Lincoln Cottage & Visitor Center in Washington, DC. He is a premier preservationist, and works with the firm that recently completed the Charity Hospital Feasibility Study.
