NCPTT’s Kirk Cordell, Executive Director, and Tad Britt, Chief of Archeology and Collections, visited Kalaupapa National Historic Landmark to survey and assess cemetery conditions at several locations within the park. Richard Miller and K’aohulani McGuire of Kalaupapa NHL led the survey. Fourteen religious faiths are represented in the cemeteries and many different types of grave markers were observed. Subsidence and weather exposure have caused much of the detrimental effects. NCPTT will consult and provide recommendations to rehabilitate the markers.
