NCPTT has internships available in the fields of historic architecture, materials conservation, and historic landscapes. Positions include 10-week historic architecture and materials conservation summer internships and a 6-month historic landscapes internship. NCPTT is an office of the National Park Service located on the campus of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana.
Summer Internships – Historic Architecture & Materials Conservation
Summer intern opportunities may include hands on research, teaching opportunities, data collection, materials research, or testing new technologies. Applicants should demonstrate skills and knowledge in preservation technology. This may include, but not be limited to: documentation; condition assessments; literature reviews; laboratory or field research; materials testing; and hands-on preservation treatments or other related skills.
All summer interns must be accepted or currently enrolled at an accredited university or college program in disciplines such as architecture, conservation, chemistry, engineering, geology, geography, preservation, etc.

6-Month Internship – Historic Landscapes
The selected applicant will assist Center staff in developing a preservation landscape maintenance training curriculum, research existing training sources, identify unmet training needs, and create a social media site to organize and communicate findings. Other tasks to be assigned may include assisting with development of a landscape preservation workshop and training video.
The intern must be currently enrolled in or have recently completed an undergraduate or graduate program in an accredited university or college program in disciplines such as landscape architecture, horticulture, or historic preservation.
