Archeology is a huge part of Colonial National Historical Park especially at Historic Jamestowne. This section of the park was established as a joint venture between the National Park Service and Preservation Virginia. The park service serves as host to the Jamestowne Rediscovery Society. This society has used private funds to make major strides in discovery beginning in 1994. Within 3 archeological seasons, proof of the fort was found.
