With a 2015 PTT Grant, Eric Allison and his team at the California Office of Historic Preservation are building a free and publicly available application for use in capturing descriptive and spatial information about historical resources. The application will offer a cost-effective solution for recording historic resources, securely storing the data locally, and submitting the data for inclusion in California’s state historic resource inventory, where it will be incorporated through automated processes. Statewide use of the application will result in a decreased use of paper documents, cutting the backlog of inventory data entry and improving access to inventory data. It will be available for state historic preservation offices nationwide to use or model.
