A beta web version of the NCPTT Summer Institute course, Prospection in Depth, is available online at http://www.ncptt.nps.gov/archeology/.
The web module allows the public to learn from this blend of technology training and a mature archeological research project in the comfort of the office. Visitors will be able to ground-truth the remote sensing data themselves by selecting a site to explore; examining the remote sensing data; comparing anomalies with excavation units and/or shovel test locations; and virtually excavate the unit or shovel test in question by studying the context (excavation) forms, plan view drawings, profile drawings, and photographs.
